The GHG Protocol Policy and Action Standard provides a standardized approach for estimating the greenhouse gas effect of policies and actions. Analysts at both the national and local levels can evaluate the GHG impacts of specific policies to improve their effectiveness in reducing emissions and inform where to invest resources to achieve the best results.
I have been involved in this work as a member of the Technical Working Group and as lead author of chapter 9 on ex-ante evaluation of policies and was involved in the development of the additional sectoral guidance. I also supported WRI in developing initial training material for the Policy and Action Standard and the Mitigation Goal Standard.
