November 2017 – March 2018
The Project “Creation of an Overarching Framework for Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) in Viet Nam” (NAMA Project) is a project of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) – Viet Nam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change (IMHEN) collaborating with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In 2014-2015, the project successfully supported Viet Nam in the development of its (I)NDC which was submitted to UNFCCC as of 29 September 2015. Based on the previous collaboration, the NAMA project, will contribute to the revision of Viet Nam’s NDC (to be re-submitted to UNFCCC in 2018 or 2019), that will include the industrial processes (IP) sector for the first time.
In the context of the technical support provided, I will provide recommendations for consolidation of assumptions and methodologies of the five sectoral reports on energy, agriculture, Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF), Industrial Processes (IP) and waste; recommendations for enhancing the accuracy and consistency of Viet Nam’s national BAU and mitigation scenario based on sectoral BAUs and mitigation scenarios entailed in the five sectoral reports; and provide overall recommendations for enhancing the technical report of the NDC in particular the mitigation component.
